Your brand’s online aesthetic and overall design can encourage audiences to notice and remember your company. Focus on a design that will create a good first impression, make your brand recognisable and appear desirable to potential customers.

As tastes change, it’s important to adapt your brand’s look to appeal to your target audience. We’ve taken a look at some of the biggest visual trends for 2025, so you can build a strong aesthetic and stand out for all the right reasons.

Profile

Now is a great time to reassess the look of your brand's social media profile. Are you happy with the profile picture and cover photo? Do they still appropriately represent your business? If you’re just looking for an update, don’t be afraid to experiment with colour schemes, but ensure your brand remains recognisable to your existing customers.

Dimensions

Instagram decided to mix things up early into 2025 by changing the layout on their platform from squares to rectangles. Posts will now show as 4:5 in feed and 3:4 in the grid preview. For optimal performance on Instagram take your photos in 4:5 ratio but bear in mind that the sides won’t show in grid.

Different networks have different optimal dimensions. Ensure that you’re creating your media with multiple versions to work across your chosen networks.

Pantone Color of the Year - Mocha Mousse

Pantone Colour of the Year

Pantone named Mocha Mousse as their 2025 Colour of the Year, and while you may not take inspiration from it’s brown hues for your brand, the choice signals a desire for comforting colour schemes. Pantone highlighted the thoughtful indulgence, harmonious comfort and feelings of contentment of the colour of the year. Take this into account when developing campaigns for your business.

Pinterest Predicts

Pinterest have peered into their crystal ball and revealed their insights for 2025 with their annual Pinterest Predicts report. According to Pinterest themselves, over the past five years, 80% of their predicted trends came true and these trends are also more durable, lasting nearly twice as long as other trends across the internet. Let’s take a look at some of their boldest predictions for the year ahead...

Cherry Coded

Pinterest predicts that 2025 will see Gen Z and Millennials embrace the dark, sweet vibes of Cherry Red. This could present an opportunity for brands to update their colour preferences for the year.

Fisherman Aesthetic

According to Pinterest, Gen Z and Gen X will embrace a laid-back maritime attitude this year. They predict an increase in searches for “Fisherman sandals” and “Sardine tattoo”. While this may not be the easiest to incorporate into your comapny's aesthetic, don't be afraid to take your brand coastal.

Terra Futura

2025 is the year for rebels with a cause. Sustainable living, recyclable fashion and an eco-living aesthetic are set to become highly influential. If Millenials and Gen Z fall into your core audience, consider the steps your brand is taking to improve sustainability and how you promote that on social media.

Peak Travel

Mountain ranges are set to become the ultimate travel destination in 2025. Brand’s could choose to incorporate stunning mountain imagery into their strategy, particularly to appeal to Gen X and Gen Z.

Seeing Double

Matching is fashionable in 2025 with coordinating outfits seeing an increase in searches. Experiment with patterns and duplicates in your graphics this year.

TikTok Trends

TikTok defines trends based on impact and lifespan and use their own research methodology to highlight storytelling opportunities. In their 2025 Trend Report they use the phrase “Brand Chem” to describe the process of listening, adapting and transforming on social media.

Emerging communities

TikTok has highlighted three emerging communities in its Trend Report. Consider how you can adapt your digital posts to appeal to these potential audiences.

  • #hopecore is all about spreading positivity and optimism.

  • #corporatetok revolves around bringing new energy and community into our everyday working lives.

  • #nostalgiacore connects audiences drawing inspiration from the past.

AI Eases Everyday

TikTok highlights the opportunities that AI presents for brands with a playful, creative approach. They suggest that this will give brands a creative edge by enabling faster ideation and production.

Although AI certainly has its drawbacks, there are ways you can use it to generate content for your brand. Some AI technologies can help with idea generation, as well as unique imagery. Always make sure to study the assets for any faults before you post.

Girls are Girling

If your business has a strong female audience, TikTok have noted the importance that female inclusivity will have to brands' bottom lines. They suggest that brands can drive loyalty by embracing TikTokʼs femininomenon and partnering with female influencers. Your brand can also capitalise on this trend by prioritising creative that appeals to your female audience. Remember your followers are more likely to resonate with your content if they can see themselves represented in it.

There'll no doubt be many new trends coming our way this year! Make sure your brand stays up to date and don't be afraid to experiment with new colour schemes, fonts and imagery.
