Spend a Day with the OCOCO Team - Nicholle

As a Social Media Executive at OCOCO Media, no two days are ever the same—and that’s why I love my job! Join me and take a behind-the-scenes look at a day in my life…

@6am A Tea-riffic Start ☕️

As much as I try to trick myself into believing I am, I’m admittedly not a morning person. So despite the chime of my alarm, my day doesn't officially begin until I have completed the very important task of making a cup of tea. After this morning pick-me-up, I’m all set to get ready for the day ahead.

Depending on my mood, I typically get ready whilst listening to an audiobook. I’ve been hooked on Audible recently, so today I listened to On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, written and narrated by Ocean Vuong.

@7am On the Move 🚇📚

I travel to work on the Metro, always with a book in hand to help me survive the hustle and bustle of the morning rush. Earlier this year, I challenged myself to read 100 books in 2024, and I use my daily commute to chip away at that goal a little each day. My ‘Metro book’ today is Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. It’s a weird one that had me guessing from the very first chapter—I highly recommend it!

Once I’m off the Metro, I pick up a coffee from Newcastle’s pride and joy (Greggs) and begin my walk to the OCOCO office.

@8:45am Arrive at the Office 📆👩‍💻

Once I'm at my desk, it’s time to do my daily checks. Emails are always my first point of call, before checking social media notifications and Google reviews. Once I’m up to speed and have responded to any outstanding messages, I’ll write a to-do list in my diary and outline my priorities for the day.

@9:30am Getting the Latest Scoop 🚗🗞️

Many of my clients work in the automotive industry, so I always carve out a little time in the morning to catch up on the latest news to ensure I’m creating fresh, relevant content. Social media is the best place to start, so I have a scroll through a range of our clients' represented manufacturers’ pages; new model reveals, award wins and brand updates provide brilliant inspiration for social posts. This a great way to keep on top of emerging trends and observe how vehicles are being discussed on social media. Next, I’ll skim over some magazine articles—Auto Express is a favourite in the OCOCO office!

@10am - Writing Outside of the Box ✏️💡

I spend the biggest chunk of my day doing my favourite part of my job—planning and creating content! I’ve always loved writing, and I find it incredibly rewarding to play with words and phrasing to build original content and strong voices for each client.

Today I’m writing a set of social media posts for a car dealership, creating a mix of sales-focused messages about featured models and fun on-site team updates, as well as some teasers for an upcoming event they’re hosting. Once I’ve edited each post to suit different social media platforms, I schedule them at optimal posting times.

@1pm Food for Thought! 🍕🍓

If there’s a local restaurant or food van visiting the Northern Design Centre, I’ll usually take a moment to snap a quick photo to share on OCOCO’s social channels. However, today I came prepared with a tuna sandwich and a fruit pot (admittedly, not as exciting as a food van treat). There’s always a good chat going on in the OCOCO office at lunch; we love discussing what we’re binge-watching or listening to.

@1:30pm Blog Time! 🔍🧡

After lunch, I continue research I’ve been conducting this week on a upcoming blog.

The OCOCO blog is packed full of some great reads, from a specialised series about creating different types of content, to discussions about refining your digital strategy and the team’s top marketing tips. Today I’m sourcing some facts, figures and quotes to include in my next piece.

@3pm Taking a Deep Dive into Analytics 🌊 📊

Once I’ve gathered all of the information I need for my blog, I move onto creating a comprehensive social media analytic report—I produce one every month for each of my clients. Not only does this allow me to monitor the performance of each campaign, but it also helps inform future work, revealing which content resonated best with the target audience, highlighting opportunities to increase engagement in the future.

@4:15pm Packing up 🎒

Is that the time already? I always refer back to my diary at the end of the day and write some notes for tomorrow. When I’m done, I set off towards the Metro station for my journey home, once again with Piranesi to keep me company.

@6pm Time to relax 🧘‍♀️🍿

After work today I headed straight to a pilates class with my friend and then walked home to cook something tasty for tea. I made a Thai red curry with chicken (and way too much chilli), before rounding off my night with a movie on Netflix—tonight’s pick is Kingsman: The Secret Service.
